Position Overview:
MHG Prep is seeking an experienced Director of Academic Excellence & School Growth who understands how to build, strengthen, and grow a school.
This is a hands-on academic leadership position. The Director will lead curriculum and instruction while also maintaining teaching responsibilities and providing daily classroom coverage as needed. The ideal candidate must be comfortable moving between school leadership, teacher coaching, curriculum development, student support, and direct classroom instruction.
We are looking for a builder, someone who can identify what a growing school needs and help develop the systems, curriculum, teachers, and academic programs necessary to move it forward.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of curriculum across grade levels.
- Develop curriculum maps, pacing guides, scope and sequence, assessments, and instructional expectations.
- Ensure curriculum is rigorous, standards-aligned, and supports MHG Prep's instructional philosophy.
- Teach assigned classes and maintain regular classroom responsibilities as determined by the school's needs.
- Provide day-to-day classroom coverage when teachers are absent or additional instructional support is needed.
- Model strong instructional practices and effective classroom management for faculty.
- Conduct classroom observations and coach teachers to improve instruction and student engagement.
- Plan and facilitate teacher professional development.
- Analyze student achievement data and develop strategies for academic improvement.
- Identify students needing intervention, enrichment, or additional academic support.
- Monitor grades, credits, attendance, graduation requirements, and student progress.
- Develop academic systems that support continued school and enrollment growth.
- Partner with the School Board on academic planning and school improvement.
- Help identify new programs, partnerships, electives, and academic opportunities.
- Assist with student recruitment, retention, school tours, open houses, and enrollment.
- Support student discipline, school culture, and parent communication.
- Assist with academic records, scheduling, enrollment, withdrawal, and compliance requirements.
- Perform other leadership and instructional responsibilities necessary to support the daily operation and growth of MHG Prep.
- M.H.G. Preparatory Academy operates in partnership with a non-denominational Christian church. The successful candidate must be willing to actively participate in the life of the church and support the shared Kingdom-centered mission and values of the school and church.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Experience in teaching, educational leadership, curriculum development, instructional coaching, or school administration.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum design, standards alignment, assessment, classroom instruction, and student achievement.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and manage a classroom.
- Experience coaching, supervising, or developing teachers.
- Ability to analyze academic data and turn it into measurable improvement strategies.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience helping grow, launch, improve, or expand a school or academic program strongly preferred.
- Commitment to Kingdom principles, academic excellence, student development, and the mission of MHG Prep.
